Mammoth Marathon

Don't miss out on the event of the year!

Over the course of 2 days, we host a variety of race events with courses of varying size and difficulty, including the BIG race around Toronto Island.  Open to racers of all ages and skill levels, advance registration is required.

  • Saturday, September 18, 2021 - Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) and Surf Ski Races

  • Sunday, September 19, 2021 - Windsurf, Wind Foil and Wing Foil Races - the largest in Ontario (if not Canada!)

Register for one day or both - for racers who finish both the SUP and windsurf races, cumulative time will be calculated and ranked for Super Mammoth (combined SUP/windsurf) winner.

Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) and Surf Ski Races

    8:30 am - Check-in to receive a race bib (face mask required)

    9:30 am - Racers meeting for course and safety information

  10:00 am - SUP Long Course 14.4 km race around Toronto Island*

  10:30 am - Surf Ski Long Course 14.4 km race around Toronto Island*

  11:00 am - SUP Medium Course 7km race (minimum 4 racers)

  12:00 pm - SUP Short Course (Kids 12 and under)

    1:00 pm - Awards and prize draws


Sunday, September 19, 2021

Windsurf, Wind Foil and Wing Foil Races 

     9:00 am - Check-in to receive a race bib  (face mask required)

  10:00 am - Racers meeting for course and safety information

  11:00 am - Medium and Long Course 14.4 km around Toronto Island*

  12:00 pm - Short Course / LTW Student Course** (~ 1 hour)

    2:00 pm - Awards and prize draws


* Note that Long Course participants that do not make it to T4 by a certain time will be redirected to the Medium Course.

**LTW Students in the Stay Hooked program must register online through this page AND contact Simon to make arrangements for equipment no later than Thursday September 16, 2021 at 5:00 pm.

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants scheduled routes and start times are subject to change on the day of the event.


Course Routes

There are 3 races courses to choose from on each day:

  • Long Course - 14.4 km around Toronto Island
  • Medium Course - 5-7 km course
  • Short Course - for beginners, SUP kids (12 and under), and LTW participants in the Stay Hooked windsurf program. 

The route for the 14.4 km course around Toronto Island can be viewed by clicking here.  Racers must keep away from the buoys near the island airport, you may be prosecuted and subject to a hefty fine if you enter the "Keep Out Zone" marked by these buoys.  The direction of the course will be determined by the wind direction on race day.  

The route for all other races will be determined on the morning of the races depending on wind and weather conditions.

Please select the the course best suited to your skill and ability  during registration.

Changes will permitted on the day of the event to ensure everyone's comfort and safety.


Safety

  • PFDs and a whistle are required for all participants. 

  • Leashes are MANDATORY for SUP, surfski and wing foil


Registration and Inclusions

  • Participation is limited to 100 people

  • Advance registration is required, the cut off for registration is Friday September 17, 2021 at 8:00 pm.

  • All participants must check in upon arrival to receive their race bib.

  • At the completion of the race, participants will receive water, fruit, and a power bar. Lunch will not be served this year due to COVID 19 restrictions.

  • Awards and prize draw will begin once all racers have returned.


COVID 19 Notice

Due to the ongoing restrictions on gatherings, we will be limiting attendance to 100 people and adhering to the City of Toronto guidelines for outdoor gatherings. These require that every member of the public who is outdoors at an event must wear a mask or face covering in accordance with applicable regulations unless they are entitled to an exception noted in the regulation. Masks are mandatory indoors (including change rooms, washroom and storage containers) and capacity limits are in place.  We ask that all attendees adhere to these protocols for the protection of all in attendance.

Participants will be screened upon registration on the day of the event. Please stay home if you are not feeling well.


Parking

Parking at the club is limited. As a courtesy to those that carry their boards with them in their car we kindly ask that all others park at the main Cherry Beach parking lot or find alternative transportation (bike, walk, skate, TTC, carpool, etc).
